KOTA KINABALU: A 36-year-old factory operator was sentenced to 12 years’ jail and two strokes of the cane for caressing and squeezing his 14-year-old biological daughter’s breasts at 2:30am on 15 Aug 2023 in Inanam.
Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain convicted him under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
The court ordered immediate jail term starting Monday, plus two years’ police supervision after release.
Defence pleaded for leniency (first offence, still supports children), but prosecution pushed for heavy sentence to protect children from family predators.
Four prosecution and three defence witnesses testified.
