KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is taking steps to mitigate the impact of rising airfares and global uncertainties on its tourism sector, said Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin.
He said higher fuel costs, disrupted flight routes and weaker travel demand could affect arrivals, prompting efforts to sustain air connectivity and support industry players.
“Among the implications are higher airfares, declining travel sentiment and postponement of travel plans,” he said.
Jafry said strategies include boosting domestic and regional markets, intensifying promotions, and positioning Sabah as a premium destination, while engagements with industry players are ongoing to address cost pressures and seek federal support.
