LABUAN: A supermarket was issued a compound for failing to display cash sale price tags on frozen goods offered for trade, said State Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Chief Enforcement Officer Amiluddin Malang.
He said inspections were carried out on a total of 40 business premises across various sectors, adding that two enforcement teams from KPDN Labuan were deployed to conduct monitoring and inspections around Labuan on Sunday.
“A compound notice was issued to the supermarket supervisor under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 (Act 723),” he said.
He added that if found guilty, a company may be fined up to RM500,000, while individuals may face a fine of up to RM100,000, imprisonment of up to three years, or both.
KPDN Labuan stressed that price labelling is a crucial element in any transaction, and failure to display price tags on goods or service charges can mislead consumers and constitutes an offence under Act 723.
He further reminded all traders to comply with existing laws to ensure price transparency and protect consumer interests.
“Members of the public with any information or complaints are urged to channel them through KPDN’s official platforms,” he said.
