KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has achieved a robust financial milestone, with annual revenue collection surpassing RM6 billion for three consecutive years since 2022.
Delivering his policy address at the opening of the 17th State Legislative Assembly on Thursday, Head of State Tun Musa Aman announced that the government will now intensify efforts to curb revenue leakages through stricter enforcement of the State Sales Tax and enhanced strategic partnerships.
To further diversify the economy, Government-linked companies (GLCs) are being urged to expand into high-growth sectors, including artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and logistics.
Tun Musa also addressed global economic volatility, warning that geopolitical tensions in the Middle East could drive up inflation and logistics costs.
He called for prudent public spending and emphasized that political and social unity remains the vital "pillar" required to safeguard Sabah's economic resilience and the successful implementation of its development agenda.
