Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Women Advisory Council (MPWS) is confident it can play a leading role as a government think tank in formulating policies and strategies for more sustainable women’s empowerment in the state.
Its chairperson, Datuk Dr Rosmawati Lasuki, said MPWS remains committed to ensuring that all initiatives implemented will generate sustained positive impact for women’s development in Sabah.
She said this when met after a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor at Menara Kinabalu, recently.
Rosmawati said the visit was aimed at presenting MPWS’s achievements and strategic direction in efforts to empower women in the state.
Also present during the visit were Deputy Chairperson Datuk Fauziah Abu Bakar Titingan and Sabah Women Affairs Department (JHEWA) Director Haslina Ismail.
Among the matters presented was the implementation of the Global Women Leaders (GLOW) programme, which focuses on education, economy and leadership.

She said MPWS conducted an assessment programme in 2025 to identify the current level of women’s leadership in these three areas.
Rosmawati said 75 participants were selected to undergo a more intensive follow-up programme.
She added that the initiative focuses on improving education levels, strengthening entrepreneurship particularly in the food, cosmetics and local crafts sectors, and enhancing women’s leadership potential at the global level.
MPWS also extended a formal invitation to the Chief Minister to officiate the State-level Women’s Day Celebration scheduled for 4 September 2026.
The council also plans to organise a Women Leaders Symposium in the same month as a platform to strengthen networking and leadership among women in the state.
Rosmawati expressed appreciation to JHEWA for its role in coordinating the courtesy visit, and said MPWS remains committed to supporting the state’s development agenda in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya vision.
