KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Shooting Association (SSA) has elected former High Court judge Datuk Nurchaya Arsad @ Arshad as its first female president, marking a milestone for the traditionally male-led body.

In her maiden address on March 29, Nurchaya thanked members for their trust and pledged to focus on growing the sport, expanding membership and strengthening unity within the association.

“Our purpose is clear, to grow shooting in Sabah, expand our membership and represent our association with pride,” she said, urging members and the committee to work together as one team.

She highlighted the association’s diversity as a key strength and expressed hope that SSA would become a more inclusive, family-friendly space beyond competition.
