KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Masiung Banah, chairman of the GRS Backbenchers Club, has called for a final decision on Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), urging an end to prolonged discussions and legal processes.
He said the matter should no longer remain in repeated negotiations and court-related deliberations, stressing the need for a “definitive resolution” to stop ongoing speculation between the state and federal governments.
The call followed a recent engagement session in Kota Kinabalu involving state assembly members, MPs, and senior government officials held at the Sabah International Convention Centre.
Masiung said the resolution would be brought to the technical committee under the MA63 Implementation Action Council, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, for further action.
He expressed optimism that a “win-win” outcome could be achieved through the technical committee process.
The meeting also touched on related issues including foreign residents in Sabah and electricity tariff increases, with several agencies including the Immigration Department and Department of Statistics Malaysia presenting briefings.
