KENINGAU: Hasmin @ Azroy Abdullah has been elected as the new Persatuan Koisaan Sinakagon Karanaan Liwan Sabah (Sakag) President at the association’s Annual General Meeting, held recently at the Hotel Perkasa here.
The AGM, attended by close to 100 members, also saw the dissolution of the previous committee and the election of new leadership for the 2026–2029 term.

Benjamin Denis was elected Deputy President, while five Vice Presidents were appointed to represent key districts, Sukim Sarat (Tenom), Ahmad Thadzudin Mohd Ali (Tambunan), Ramdin @ Sapinin Hassimin (Keningau), Henry Petrus (Papar) and Jalia @ Monica Santiu (Ranau).
Hafez Azwan Darwis was appointed Secretary-General, with the positions of Deputy Secretary-General and Treasurer-General to be determined at a subsequent meeting.
The new committee also includes Mathilda Nain, Dr Jupikely James Silip, Heldahwaty Juhasin, Isidore Ignatius Simin @ Edding, Balasom @ Philip John Basalant and Jubin @ Johari Kinsil.
In his speech, Azroy extended appreciation to outgoing President Stanley Chong and the previous committee for their service, pointing out in particular the successful completion of the Family Genealogy Book Version 2.
Azroy called on more members of the Karanaan Liwan family to register with Sakag and outlined several upcoming programmes including the Karanaan Liwan Sabah Heritage Festival, a Sakag Fun Run and the Sakag Football League.
He also noted that the successful staging of Tadau Moginakan Sakag 2025 in Papar would be followed by a 2027 edition, tentatively planned for either Tenom or Keningau and expressed hope that family members would continue to lend their support to ensure all planned programmes run smoothly.
The Sakag brings together the Karanaan Liwan family community from Tenom, Tambunan, Keningau, Papar and Ranau.
