Kota Kinabalu: The Sessions Court here fined a private ambulatory care centre RM55,000 for providing ambulatory services without a licence two years ago.
Sessions Court Judge Marlina Ibrahim imposed the sentence on Healing Heart PLT after one of its directors pleaded guilty on behalf of the centre to the charge on Monday.
The court heard that the centre operated as a private ambulatory care facility without a licence under Paragraph 19(a) of the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998 (Act 586) at KK Times Square, on June 12, 2024.
The offence was committed under Section 3(c) and is punishable under Section 5(1)(b) of the same Act, which carries a fine of up to RM500,000 upon conviction.
Case facts stated that during a raid at the premises, three staff members were on duty and one patient was receiving treatment, while documents, equipment and machines were seized.
