TAWAU: A total of 114 Indonesian illegal immigrants were deported by sea under the fourth repatriation programme carried out by the Sabah Immigration Department on Thursday.
Sabah Immigration Director Datuk Sitti Saleha Habib Yusoff said those deported, categorised as Orang Yang Dipindahkan (OYD), comprise 78 adult men, 26 adult women, six boys and four girls.
“All of them were sent back to Nunukan, Indonesia, and were accompanied by representatives from the Indonesian Consulate in Tawau,” she said.
She said to date, a total of 1,653 illegal immigrants have been deported from Sabah.
Statistics show that Filipino nationals recorded the highest percentage of immigration offences in the State at 55 per cent, followed by Indonesians (38 per cent), Pakistanis (4 per cent), Chinese nationals (2 per cent) and other nationalities (one per cent).
Sitti Saleha also urged the public to be more vigilant within their communities and not to harbour or employ illegal immigrants.
