LAHAD DATU: Thirty-seven foreigners were detained for various offences by the Sabah Immigration Department in Kota Kinabalu and Lahad Datu on Friday.
The department in a statement said 75 individuals comprising 45 locals and 30 Filipinos were inspected during an operation in Kota Kinabalu.
This led to the arrest of six Filipinos comprising four men and two women for not having valid travel documents under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
On the same day, the department detained 31 foreigners following an operation carried out in Lahad Datu.
During the operation, 78 individuals were inspected and of the number, 31 were detained comprising 24 Filipinos (five men, 12 women and seven children) for not having valid travel documents under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
Seven Pakistanis were also detained for overstaying in the country which is an offence under Section 15(1)(c) of the same act.

In the meantime, the Immigration Department emphasised their continuous commitment in strengthening enforcement to flush out illegal immigrants and ensuring the sovereignty of national laws remain protected.
