KOTA BHARU: A Malaysian traveller accidentally booked a flight to Kota Bharu, Kelantan instead of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, only realising the mistake after landing.
In a post shared on the “大马一定行” Facebook page, the traveller apologised to their former geography teacher, admitting they mistakenly selected Kota Bharu when searching for flights to Kota Kinabalu from Kuala Lumpur.

The traveller explained that while booking the ticket two months earlier, they typed “Kota” into the search bar and chose the first option that appeared without noticing it referred to Kota Bharu.
The error became apparent after arrival when the traveller could not find any immigration counters at the airport, which are normally required for passengers travelling from Peninsular Malaysia to Sabah.
Due to the ticket being non-refundable and non-changeable, the traveller had to purchase a new flight to Kota Kinabalu the same evening, while also losing the return ticket which had been mistakenly booked from Kota Bharu to Kuala Lumpur.
