BEAUFORT: Residents of Kampung Sungau Weston have been without clean water supply for more than eight days, forcing them to rely on bottled water purchased from town.
One of the affected residents, Saadiah Omar, said the supply to her village had been cut off even though there was no visible damage such as broken water pipe.

She said the Sabah Water Department should take immediate action, especially during this fasting month and when Hari Raya is approaching.
“How can we prepare food for the breaking of fast?” she asked.
“Even bathing has become difficult as the water stored in tanks has run out,” she said, adding that their school-going children are now forced to bathe using bottled water.
Saadiah said the residents were puzzled over the non-supply of water.
“This is not the dry season. It could be that the workers have not released trapped air from the pipelines.”
Meanwhile, Urban Development Committee (JKDB) Chairman Amin Abas said the Water Department should act quickly by sending water using tanker trucks.
“This is the third time it has happened and it must be addressed immediately. If the entire Weston area and Kampung Lubok have water supply, why is Kampung Sungau, which is located in the middle of these villages, the only one without water?” he said.
