Customs seizes over 300kg of drugs worth RM15m at Sepanggar Port

Kota Kinabalu: More than 300 kilogrammes of drugs worth RM15 million were seized by the Sabah Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) during an inspection of a container at Sepanggar Port recently.

Sabah JKDM director Ahmad Taufik Sulaiman said the seizure was made at about 11.30am on April 22 following intelligence received on a container brought in from Port Klang.

He said a team from the Narcotics Branch of the Sabah Enforcement Division, together with the Import and Export Branch at Sepanggar Port, carried out a detailed inspection at the Customs Examination Area.

He said the inspection uncovered 15 boxes believed to contain methamphetamine weighing a total of 305.722 kilogrammes with an estimated value of RM15,286,100.

He said no arrests have been made so far and investigations are ongoing to identify those involved, including the source and possible links to an international syndicate.
