15 killed as cash-laden military plane crashes in Bolivia

LA PAZ: At least 15 people were killed when a Bolivian military cargo plane carrying banknotes crashed while attempting to land near the capital on Friday.

AFP repoerted that the C-130 Hercules aircraft veered off the runway at El Alto International Airport before crashing into a nearby avenue, damaging several vehicles.

Local media footage showed the plane ploughing through cars and trucks along the road after leaving the runway.

The aircraft was transporting newly printed currency from the central bank when the accident occurred.
