Colossal biosciences to open Dubai biovault for endangered species
Direwolf pups engineered by the company
Dallas-based Colossal Biosciences will establish the Colossal Biovault and World Preservation Lab in Dubai’s Museum of the Future, storing millions of frozen tissue and biological samples from 10,000 species, including the 100 most endangered globally and in the UAE.

The biovault aims to safeguard species against extinction, support research, and preserve genetic diversity, with co-founder Ben Lamm likening it to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault.

Colossal is also known for attempts to revive extinct animals, including the dire wolf, mammoth, and dodo, though experts note these creations resemble hybrids rather than true replicas.
