KOTA KINABALU: The increase in allocations for non-Islamic religious bodies in Sabah reflects the state government’s commitment to religious diversity, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.
He said the higher allocation also underscored the commitment of the state government under Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor to develop the needs of all religious communities in an inclusive and equitable manner.

“The allocation for non-Islamic religious bodies, which has been increased to RM90 million, is a manifestation of the Sabah Government’s strong commitment to ensuring the development and welfare needs of all religious adherents are given due attention,” he said.
Ewon said this after attending the Thaipusam celebration at Sri Subramaniar Lokawi Temple here on Sunday.
The Penampang MP said mutual respect for religious and cultural celebrations among Malaysia’s diverse communities is a key foundation for safeguarding the Federation, particularly in Sabah, which has long been an example of tolerance and unity.
