Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco) and Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) are working together to resolve technical and compliance issues affecting the long-delayed Sedco SME Industrial Park in Sepanggar, with completion now targeted for the second quarter of 2026.
Sedco Group General Manager Datuk James Wong and DBKK Director General (Planning and Development Sector) Datuk Lifred Wong led a joint site visit and coordination session at the industrial park recently to address outstanding implementation matters.

The visit included DBKK Building Control Department Director Kalvin Liaw, among others.
The industrial park project has faced numerous challenges since its inception, but officials said recovery efforts over the past year have created renewed momentum.
Sedco is now targeting the issuance of an occupational certificate by mid-2026.
“What can be solved today must be solved today,” said newly-appointed Sedco Chairman Datuk Masiung Banah, whose directive has shaped the corporation’s approach to resolving legacy projects.
Meanwhile, Wong has implemented stricter monitoring of contractors, closer inter-agency collaboration, and clearer accountability measures across all implementation levels.
These steps follow concerns over previous management performance and project delays.
The industrial park was approved to support Sabah’s manufacturing and light industrial sectors by providing ready-built premises for local entrepreneurs, with particular focus on Sabah-based manufacturers and Bumiputera small and medium enterprises.
Upon completion, the project is expected to generate employment opportunities and strengthen the industrial ecosystem around the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park area.
The Sedco is now accepting registrations of interest from entrepreneurs and manufacturers seeking to rent units at the facility.
