KUCHING: Sabah-based environmental consultant, WAIG Consultancy Sdn Bhd
(pic), is among five national winners of the Shell LiveWire 2025 Malaysia programme.
The group, which specialises in hydraulic and coastal modelling, walked away with RM30,000 to fuel their work which promotes sustainable design and helps clients with practical and eco-friendly solutions in shaping Sabah’s infrastructure projects.

Other national winners include Earthlings Coffee, Lariss Quna Enterprise and Lettuboost from Sarawak; as well as Rebooz from Peninsular Malaysia.
National finalists from Sabah included Crates Studio, Live2Learn Ideas, Nella Odella, and Rafa F&B Enterprise, having competed with over 60 participants.
“Entrepreneurs today are problem solvers, job creators and nation builders. The ideas rooted in creativity and innovation are shaping solutions that fuel economic growth, outlive communities and drive social progress,” said Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, in his speech.
“While the government continues to lay the foundation for a strong and enabling ecosystem, our greatest success comes from collaboration. The collaboration between public institutions, private enterprises and courageous entrepreneurs who choose to take the lead.
“I commend Shell Malaysia for its unwavering commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship through the Shell LifeWire programme, an initiative that has empowered entrepreneurs across more than 20 countries and transformed countless lives here in Malaysia.”
Meanwhile, Shell Malaysia country chair and Upstream Malaysia senior vice president, Siti Sulaiman, affirmed that the Shell LifeWire programme has been the cornerstone of Shell’s commitment to supporting and inspiring entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into real, impactful businesses that address today’s social and economic challenges.
“We worked with 180 entrepreneurs from the programme from all across Malaysia. Out of these, we identified 15 finalists.”
Established in 2015, Shell LiveWire Malaysia engages with entrepreneurs who are committed towards starting and growing their business ideas. The programme takes entrepreneurs through a series of workshops that will assist them in generating or enhancing their business ideas, testing their business models and preparing them to be successful business owners.
Through this programme, Shell Malaysia seeks for entrepreneurs whose ideas will power lives in environmental sustainability, social impact and business innovation.
Shell LiveWire Malaysia runs annually Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Peninsular Malaysia, whereby fhese five winners from each state will then compete at the national level, where five national winners will stand a chance to win an additional RM30,000.
Alongside the grant, winners are also be provided with mentorship and guidance to kickstart their businesses, from the Shell LiveWire Malaysia facilitators for the next three years and stand a chance to be absorbed into Shell’s supply chain and a chance to go into partnership with Shell retailers.
Today, Shell runs the LifeWire programme in 18 countries all over the world, strengthening local economies through entrepreneurship, innovation and meaningful employment.
