DAVOS: Invest Sabah Berhad chairman Datuk Roger Chin said Sabah supports the establishment of the Southeast Asia Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Council headquarters in Kota Kinabalu, positioning the State as a regional hub for policy coordination and industry collaboration on sustainable aviation fuel.
Speaking on behalf of the Sabah Chief Minister, Chin also welcomed Petra Seaga’s expression of interest to invest about USD300 million (RM1.4 billion) in a large-scale integrated biorefinery complex using agricultural and forestry biomass to produce SAF, biofuels, biochemicals, bioplastics and renewable power under circular economy principles.

He stressed that while Sabah welcomes serious investors, all projects must meet commercial, regulatory and sustainability requirements.
Chin said the State is shifting from a resource-based economy toward downstream processing, advanced manufacturing and sustainable energy, supported by investments in infrastructure and investor-friendly policies.
Chin added that Invest Sabah’s role is to coordinate agencies and ensure credible investors can engage efficiently and responsibly, reiterating that Sabah seeks long-term, ESG-compliant partners who will work with local stakeholders.
