SANDAKAN: Residents of Kampung Sim-Sim here, along with those in other affected areas, have appealed for a stable and reliable water supply to be provided to consumers as soon as possible.
They said since last year, disruptions to the water supply have become a routine problem for them.
The situation has made daily activities difficult, including preparing children for school, going to work, running food businesses, as well as for those suffering from chronic illnesses such as kidney disease and others.
Residents said they are aware of the current challenges but at the same time strongly hope that the problem can be resolved without any further supply disruptions in the future.
They also said they have been forced to spend more by purchasing bottled drinking water for cooking and other essential needs.
At the same time, residents acknowledged that local leaders have raised the same issue with the relevant authorities.
As such, they hope for positive news from the authorities to finally put an end to the water supply problem, which has affected not only Kampung Sim-Sim but also several surrounding areas in Sandakan.
