BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Brunei King Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah has safely undergone right total knee replacement surgery at Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) on Sunday, according to a statement by the Brunei Prime Minister’s Office (PMO),

His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, accompanied by members of the Royal Family, were greeted by ministers and deputy ministers upon arrival at JPMC.

The Brunei PMO announced that the surgery was successfully performed with the blessings of God, as conveyed by Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Halbi.
Brunei Health Minister Dr Awang Mohammad Isham said the Sultan is in stable condition and good health, is recuperating under close medical supervision, and will proceed with recovery, including physiotherapy sessions.
He added that during the recovery period, the King will continue to carry out official duties, with attendance at national and official ceremonies depending on his condition from time to time.
Malaysia’s National Heart Institute (Institut Jantung Negara, IJN) stated that its senior cardiologist, Dr Azmee Ghazi, was involved in providing advanced post-surgical care, reflecting the institute’s role in supporting complex, high-technology cardiovascular treatment beyond national borders.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who conveyed his well wishes recently, said in a
Facebook post that he prayed for the Sultan’s good health and successful surgery and expressed confidence in the care provided, while the PMO noted public prayers nationwide as deeply meaningful.
