KOTA KINABALU: Upko has urged the Federal Government to drop its appeal at the Court of Appeal against the High Court Kota Kinabalu’s grounds of judgment dated Oct 17, 2025, on Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement.
Upko president Datuk Ewon Benedick, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, said the call reflected the party’s long-held, principled stand that the issue must be resolved with genuine respect for Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

Speaking at the launch of the 17th Upko Triennial Delegates’ Conference at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Sunday, Ewon said restoring the 40 per cent entitlement was essential to fund development, poverty eradication, education, entrepreneurship and broader social wellbeing in Sabah.
He said a scheduled December meeting of senior officials following the High Court decision was postponed, and that Sabah’s position for the Federal Government to withdraw the appeal had yet to be tabled.
Ewon, who is also Penampang MP, said he would reiterate Upko’s stance in Parliament, acknowledging progress on 13 MA63 matters while stressing that the revenue-sharing arrangement halted since 1974 remains Sabah’s unresolved core demand.
