KOTA KINABALU: A 32-year-old Filipino was sentenced to 114 months’ jail after pleading guilty to overstaying in Sabah for more than 11 years and possessing 17 forged Social Visit Pass stamps.
Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain imposed a 12-month sentence for overstaying after his pass expired on Aug 20, 2014, and six months for each of the 17 forgery charges, with all sentences ordered to run concurrently.

The offences came to light when the man, identified as Asdi Taban Sangkalahan, was detained during Ops Sapu at a rented room above Kedai Biskut Ming Ang along Jalan Gaya.
IMeanwhile, a 59-year-old man, Abmanisim @ Kamil Siron, was fined RM5,000 or three months’ jail for allowing an illegal immigrant to stay on his premises in Kampung Binaong, Keningau.
The prosecution was conducted by Immigration Department prosecuting officer Chin Tze Mei.
