Training the police on use of Taser guns
Policemen training to use Tasers at IPD Ranau, recently.
RANAU: An In-Service Training was held involving the introduction and use of the Electroshock Gun Taser X2 at IPD Ranau, recently.

It was attended by 24 PRPs from IPD Ranau as well as members from the Sabah IPK Armaments Branch and IPD Ranau.

Among the objectives of the programme were to provide exposure on the SOP and procedures of using the Taser X2, recognise the participants’ qualifications to use weapons while on duty and convey instructions regarding the use of weapons.

Conducted by guest speaker, Sergeant Major Ag Junaidi Ag Ahmad, no incidents were reported during the training.

Meanwhile, the Ranau IPD Police recently participated in the Mobile Community Services (MCS) Programme which took place at the SK Don Bosco School Hall, Bundu Tuhan, Kundasang, Ranau. 

The program is an integrated initiative of various Federal, State and Statutory Government agencies in delivering services directly to the rural community.

Among the activities of the Ranau IPD at the programme included providing a traffic summons check counter with a discount of up to 70 percent, talk slots related to commercial crime (scammer), distribution of crime prevention brochures, Amanita engagement with women and housewives, registration of Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) & Talk To Us and face-to-face safety advisory sessions with the local community. 

The programme achieved its objectives of strengthening the relationship between the PDRM and community, increase the level of public safety awareness, and make it easier for the public to obtain Police services without having to come to the police station.

PDRM thanked the organisers for inviting the Ranau IPD to participate. 

The Mobile Community Services Programme was organised by various Federal and State government agencies to provide services to the community at designated locations. 

The purpose of the programme was also to connect various agencies directly with the public, providing various service counters at one location.

Among the services provided are such as JPN (National Registration Department), EPF (Employees Provident Fund), SPR (Election Commission), AADK (National Anti-Drug Agency), Fama, Agrobank, Mobile Court, and many more.

Also held in the programme was Jualan Rahmah where villagers from the surrounding areas able to purchase sundry goods at a cheaper price than normal.

Most villagers met during the programme shared their happiness in having such programme held in their area and hoped they will be continued in the future.
