RANAU: A 10-tonne lorry plunged into a river after attempting to cross an old semi-wooden bridge in Kg Kawiyan, about two hours from Pekan Ranau, on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident, which went viral on social media, saw the bridge collapse under the weight of the heavy vehicle.
Both the driver and his assistant reportedly escaped without serious injuries.
Netizens criticised the driver’s decision to use the bridge, which was meant only for villagers and light vehicles.
The crossing is now cut off following the damage.
As of now, no official statement has been issued and relevant authorities or rescue teams have yet to respond to the incident.
