PENAMPANG: Deputy Chief Minister cum Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick (pic) said cooperation and unity between leaders and residents are essential to advancing Penampang and addressing long-standing issues such as flooding and traffic congestion.

The Penampang MP said collective effort among community leaders and the public is needed to steer the district’s growth in industry, business and public wellbeing, noting that shared responsibility would lead to more effective solutions.

Speaking at the Christmas and New Year celebration and the launch of the Tamu Desa Ramayah at Kampung Ramayah, he said Penampang has the potential to grow into a second city alongside Kota Kinabalu if development is managed steadily and inclusively.

Ewon said the district’s upgrade to municipal council status meant public services would be more closely scrutinised, placing a responsibility on leaders to ensure standards of service and governance remain high.
