Kota Kinabalu: A 26-year-old woman was fined RM1,000 in default two months jail for engaging in gambling activities.
Frenneley Eyan pleaded guilty before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus to the charge against her, on Monday.

The court was informed by the prosecution that Frenneley was detained by police during a raid at KP CAF shop, Lorong Bunga Tanjung 2, here, at 3.30pm, after she was seen engaging in ‘Wa Hui’ online gambling with a mobile phone.
The offence under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 which provides for a fine up to RM5,000 or up to six months jail, upon conviction.
During mitigation, Frenneley who was unrepresented, asked for leniency as this was her first offence.
In another case, a 39-year-old woman was fined RM100 in default seven days’ jail for fraudulently having money amounting to RM 1,128 in her bank account.
Dina Mustika Tahang pleaded guilty for failing to provide a satisfactory explanation on how she obtained the money that belonged to Anjelin Mojumpah, on April 17, 2023, in her bank account.
The offence under Section 22A (1) of the Minor Offences Ordinance provides for a fine of up to RM100 or up to three months jail or both, on conviction.
During mitigation, Dina asked for lenient sentence.
