Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah and Labuan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained a suspicious passenger boat during a routine inspection operation about 1.01 nautical miles northwest of Tanjung Lita, here, on Friday.
Sabah and Labuan Maritime Director First Admiral Maritime Mohd Khairulanuar Abd Majid @ Razali said the boat was operated by a skipper and two crew members, believed to be Filipino nationals aged between 14 and 39.
He said inspections found that all individuals failed to produce valid passports, travel documents or permits when requested.
“As a result, the boat together with the skipper and crew were detained for further investigation under the Immigration Act 1959/63 for failing to produce valid identification documents,” he said.
The total value of the seized assets was estimated at RM30,000.
