PENAMPANG: Deputy Chief Minister cum State Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, attended the blessing Mass of the Evangelists Chapel at St Michael Penampang, officiated by the Kota Kinabalu Most Reverend Archbishop Datuk John Wong, here Saturday.
Ewon, who is also the Penampang MP, congratulated the leadership of St Michael Penampang Parish and expressed his appreciation to all contributors involved in the construction of the chapel.

“Congratulations to the St Michael Parish leadership and thank you to all contributors for making the construction of this chapel possible,” he said.
He said that during his tenure in the Federal Cabinet, his office had facilitated and channelled RM186,000 under the Non-Muslim Houses of Worship Assistance Programme (RIBI) towards the construction of the chapel.
In addition to attending the blessing Mass, Ewon also paid a site visit to the St Michael Penampang Harmoni Kindergarten project, which is currently under active construction through public donations.
He said the project still requires further financial support from the community to ensure that construction can continue and be completed as planned.
“Once fully completed, the building will be able to accommodate up to 500 pupils, serving as an important platform for the early development of human capital in Penampang,” he said.
Ewon expressed hope that more parties would come forward to support education initiatives for the benefit of future generations in the local community.
