TONGOD: A new additional block at SK Menanam Comprehensive 9 (K9), completed on Oct 27, was officially handed over to the school during a ceremony at its dining hall here on Wednesday.
The handover was officiated by Education Ministry's Senior Deputy Division Secretary (Development Branch) Khairuddin Bakar, with state education officials, district officers, the school headmaster and contractor representatives present.

Khairuddin said the RM16.2 million project, which began on Jan 3, 2023 and was implemented through a conventional consultancy approach by Minat Harapan Enterprise, reflects the Madani Government’s effort to address infrastructure shortages in rural and interior Sabah.
Built on the school’s original 1.94-hectare site, the new facilities include six classrooms, a hostel for 120 students, a dining hall for 240 students, six teachers’ quarters, and vocational laboratories and workshops to support the K9 programme.
State education representative Indang Kasi Sibin said the development will benefit 165 existing K9 pupils and 835 students from feeder schools across eight nearby villages, a move welcomed by parents and villagers who said it spares children long daily journeys to school.
