PENAMPANG: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) said its post-election decisions were driven by stability and electoral data rather than sentiment as the party assessed its performance following the polls.
Acting President Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam said PBS retained several seats and made gains in non-traditional areas such as Limbahau, but fell short in some strongholds including Tamparuli, when speaking to reporters after the party’s 40th Congress at the KDCA Hall, on Thursday.
He said outcomes were shaped by internal unity, resource constraints and shifting political dynamics, noting that strong membership numbers did not always translate into electoral wins.
Dr Joachim said the party would undertake a post-election review, particularly in KDM-majority areas, to identify weaknesses and sharpen future strategies.
He reaffirmed PBS’s decision to remain within Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), saying cooperation with the State Government and issues such as the 40 per cent revenue entitlement would continue to be addressed through established state mechanisms, with party leaders and delegates present at the congress.
