RM30.3 million Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Sabah seizures in 11 months
Peter said from the total inspections conducted, RM662,250.00 in compounds was issued involving various offences under Acts enforced by KPDN. In addition, 96 cases were prosecuted in court throughout the year.
Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sabah conducted 136,600 inspections of business premises, covering both urban and rural areas, from Jan 1 to Nov 30, compared to 67,972 inspections during the same period in 2024.

“The inspections were carried out through several enforcement operations, namely Ops Tiris, Ops Ria and Ops Kesan 4.0.

“These enforcement activities resulted in 1,534 cases being taken under various Acts, with a total seizure value amounting to RM30,378,881.51, compared to RM9,132,304.17 in the previous year,” said Chief Enforcement Officer Peter J Berinus Agang, in a statement, Tuesday.

He said from the total inspections conducted, RM662,250.00 in compounds was issued involving various offences under Acts enforced by KPDN. In addition, 96 cases were prosecuted in court throughout the year.

He also said KPDN Sabah received 1,967 complaints statewide, of which 1,861 complaints were successfully resolved while 106 complaints remain under investigation.

“Enforcement and inspection activities were carried out by 204 KPDN enforcement officers throughout the State to ensure the availability of essential goods and that business activities are conducted in compliance with laws regulated by KPDN.

“These efforts aim to protect consumers and combat leakages of controlled goods,” Peter added.

He expressed appreciation to strategic partners, including the Royal Malaysia Police, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, the Marine Police Force and local authorities, for their close cooperation throughout the year in assisting the Ministry to curb leakages of controlled goods along the country’s maritime borders.

“Such close cooperation will continue to be strengthened to ensure that government subsidies truly benefit the people.

“KPDN Sabah calls upon the local community to act as the eyes and ears of the Ministry by providing information on any unethical traders, to assist in regulating subsidised controlled goods and addressing any violations committed by any party,” he urged.
