KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) carried out 136,600 inspections statewide from January 1 to November 30 this year, nearly double the 67,972 inspections recorded over the same period in 2024.
The checks, conducted in both urban and rural areas under operations such as Ops Tiris, Ops Ria and Ops Kesan 4.0, led to 1,534 enforcement actions involving various laws, with total seizures valued at RM30.38 million compared with RM9.13 million last year.

Compounds amounting to RM662,250 were also issued, while 96 cases were charged in court.
Sabah KPDN received 1,967 complaints throughout 2025, of which 1,861 have been resolved and 106 remain under investigation. A total of 204 enforcement officers were deployed to ensure the availability of essential goods and compliance with trade regulations.
Chief enforcement officer Peter J. Berinus Agang said the operations were crucial to protect consumers and curb leakage of controlled goods.
“These enforcement efforts are aimed at ensuring essential supplies remain available, business activities comply with the law, and government subsidies truly benefit the people,” he said.
