KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today announced that the government has doubled its allocation for tax refunds from RM2 billion to RM4 billion to help traders struggling with delayed payments.
He said during the meet-the-people event here on Saturday that the move followed complaints from small businesses facing cash flow issues, adding that the increased allocation would enable the government to settle refunds more quickly.
Anwar also said the e-invoicing threshold has been raised from RM500,000 to RM1 million to ease pressure on small firms that had voiced concerns about costs and readiness.
He stressed the need for joint Federal–State monitoring to ensure development projects move faster, saying he would personally intervene if bureaucratic delays occurred at the Federal level.
On infrastructure, Anwar acknowledged Sabahans’ frustrations and assured that approved allocations for water, electricity and road upgrades would be pushed forward with tighter monthly monitoring from January.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to implementing Malaysia Agreement 1963 matters, including constitutional amendments linked to electricity devolution and State representation in Federal bodies.
Anwar said discussions on Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement would begin before mid-January, adding that while the issue was complex, the government remained committed to honouring its promise.
