KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested a man and a woman in their 50s for allegedly submitting false claims worth over RM3.6 million under the Small and Medium Industry (IKS) Assistance Programme.
Investigations found the claims, made in 2022 and 2023 to the Department of Industrial Development and Research, involved the supply of a retort machine and equipment worth over RM400,000, and certification services including MeSTI, My Food, and Halal certificates worth over RM3.2 million.
Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrests, saying the case is being investigated under Sections 18 and 28(1)(c) of the MACC Act 2009.
Both suspects were released on bail and are expected to be charged in the Kota Kinabalu Special Corruption Court this Thursday.
