Kota Kinabalu: Sabah entrepreneurs are encouraged to capitalise on China’s massive consumer market of 1.416 billion people, with the State’s unique specialty products having strong potential to succeed in the Chinese market.
Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) President Datuk Frankie Liew said the upcoming 15th Henan Investment and Trade Fair is a prime opportunity for local businesses to establish connections with Chinese counterparts.
The trade fair, scheduled for September 25-28 in Zhengzhou will feature 30 exhibition booths specifically allocated to the Sabah China Economic Conference.
“This is a rare and valuable opportunity for our entrepreneurs to showcase Sabah’s specialty products in China while attracting Chinese investments into our State,” Frankie said in a statement.
“The initiative aims to foster mutually beneficial partnerships that will contribute to economic growth in both Sabah and Malaysia as a whole,” he added.
He urged local businesses to seize this opportunity to establish valuable connections in the Chinese market while positioning Sabah’s unique products for international success.
The Henan Investment and Trade Fair stands as the only government-approved economic and trade event in Henan Province, officially hosted by the Henan Provincial Government.
Having successfully completed 14 editions, it has established itself as the regions’ largest and most influential international trade platform.
The previous edition attracted 29,000 business delegates from 43 countries and regions, with participation from high-level delegations representing 24 Chinese provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.
The exhibition covered 60,000 square meters and featured over 600 top-quality companies. The 2025 fair, themed Sharing New Opportunities for Development, Building a New Highland of Openness, will span some 65,000 square meters of exhibition space.
It will feature exhibition areas showcasing provincial strengths, international cooperation zones and seven specialised sections covering new energy vehicles, food, pharmaceuticals, digital economy, new retail and both export and imported specialty products.
Key activities will include the official opening ceremony, sessions on new opportunities under the China-Asean Free Trade Area Version 3.0 and the China (Henan) Enterprises Go to Africa Forum.
Industry-specific dialogues will focus on AI-powered industrial development, innovative pharmaceuticals and new retail development.
Beyond business networking, participants will have the opportunity to join a cultural and business tour on September 27, visiting Luoyang, Kaifeng and the famous Shaolin Temple.
