PETALING JAYA: A condolence book will be opened at the British High Commission next week for the public to offer their condolences over the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The high commission said the book will be available from Sept 12 to 15 from 8am to 4.30pm.
It said a digital condolence book is also available on www.royal.uk for those who wish to pay their tribute and respects.
“We are profoundly saddened by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” said Charles Hay, the British High Commissioner to Malaysia, in a statement.
“My colleagues and I are already receiving many condolence messages and tributes from our friends in Malaysia.
“We are very grateful for the outpouring of affection and respect for her in Malaysia.”
Hay said Queen Elizabeth, who acceded to the throne in 1952, will be remembered for her “extraordinary devotion” to duty and her life of service to Britain, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
The high commission’s flags are being flown at half mast until the state funeral, to be in about 10 days’ time.
Queen Elizabeth, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, passed away at the age of 96 at her Scottish home at Balmoral Castle yesterday.
She had been suffering from what Buckingham Palace has called “episodic mobility problems” since the end of last year.
Her 70-year reign made her the modern world’s longest-serving monarch. Only France’s Louis XIV – who ruled for more than 72 years between 1643 and 1715 – has ruled for longer.
Her eldest son Charles, 73, automatically becomes king of the UK.
