THE Malaysian Family Community (KKM – Komuniti Keluarga Malaysia) is a programme established on Aug 22, 2021, simultaneously with the launching of the Malaysian Family Aspiration by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Sabah Information Director Nadzerah Abdullah said the programme is ongoing and would be recognised as an official community club for the Sabah Information Department.
“KKM is a platform provided by the government to ensure a delivery of information that is fast, accurate and easy for the people to understand,” she said.
“It also functions as the Information Department’s strategic partner in disseminating information as well as government policy to the people.
“KKM also helps to enhance the people’s understanding while dealing with the spread of fake news and unverified information in the community.”
Aside from that, KKM acts as a catalyst in helping to strengthen the competitiveness of the local community’s socio-economy in parallel with the development of the digital economy.
Printed materials are provided to the community.
Among the approaches made by the programme are information dissemination, national patriotism cultivation and digital community.
In Sabah, the establishment of KKM is based on the existing State constituencies.
“There are 219 KKMs Statewide with the most number of KKMs in Sandakan – 21 KKMs.
“There is no limit to the number of members in a community and it is open to all regardless of age, race or religion,” she said.
Communities gather to liven up the spirit of the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.
Recently, Bernama reported that the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (K-KOMM) will mobilise 1,860 KKMs in conjunction with the National Day on Aug 31.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa was reported as saying that they have appointed the committee chairman for the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations, which also involve programmes at the state level.
