Indonesian’s IS-linked case moved to High Court
Kota Kinabalu: The Sessions Court transferred the case involving a 19-year-old Indonesian charged with having materials related to the Islamic State (IS) group, to the High Court.

Sessions Court Judge Marlina Ibrahim made the order for Mohammad Alif Suhari @ Yoga Fabrianto when his case was brought up for mention on Friday.

Mohammad Alif was accused of having the materials relating to IS inside his handphone at 1.15pm on May 26, 2019 at a house in Kg Keritan Laut, Keningau.

The offence, under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to seven years, or a fine, and liability to forfeiture of any such items, on conviction.

In the proceedings, Deputy Public Prosecutor Kershanathan Pathmanathan informed the court that the prosecution is ready to transfer the case to the High Court.

The charge was read to Mohammad Alif but no plea was taken from him as his plea would be recorded at the High Court.

Appointed Counsel Farazwin Haxdy represented Mohammad Alif who was ordered remanded further.
