PAPAR: Benoni Parklane City is on track to achieve its full completion within the next four years, as the fast-growing new township here expected to be 100 per cent ready by 2030.

Its developer, WSG Group Managing Director Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen said the development is currently about 80 per cent completed, with several remaining components — including a university college, sports arena, shopping mall, fourth tower of the lifestyle condominium and a service station — to be constructed and scheduled for completion in phases.

“By 2030, the Benoni Parklane City here will be 100 per cent complete. “Benoni Parklane City, strategically located along the Pan Borneo Highway, is envisioned as a new commercial and lifestyle hub for Papar residents and travellers heading to Keningau, Tenom, Beaufort and Sipitang.

“These travellers including those coming from Brunei Darussalam and Sarawak would also be attracted to stop by at Parklane City or Benoni Commercial Centre to eat and shop,” she said.

Susan said this to reporters at the launch of Burger King Benoni Drive-Thru at Parklane City by Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali here on Sunday.

Also present were Pantai Manis assemblyman Datuk Pg Saifuddin Pg Tahir, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Director-General Datuk Azman bin Adam, Papar District Officer Muhammad bin Mohd Ali and Burger King Malaysia and Singapore Chief Executive Officer Ng Lee Tieng.

Susan described Benoni Parklane City and the adjoining Benoni Commercial Centre as rapidly expanding developments that are transforming the area into a self-sustaining township.

She said the integrated mix of residential, commercial, banking, education and lifestyle facilities positions Benoni Parklane City as a comprehensive new township for Papar.

“With more food and beverage outlets opening here, Papar residents no longer need to drive to Kota Kinabalu to enjoy dining and shopping. They can stay, work and enjoy everything here,” she said.

On the event, she said the opening of Burger King’s Drive-Thru outlet which is the second one here marks a milestone in the township’s growth, further strengthening its positioning as a food hub.

Susan said the presence of established brands not only enhances convenience for residents but also creates employment opportunities for locals.

To a question, she said more key amenities are in the pipeline, including a Petronas service station, planned on a parcel of land opposite KFC, to cater to motorists along the highway.

In addition, she said financial institutions are strengthening their presence in the township whereas Affin Bank is currently renovating its branch and is expected to commence operations within a few months, becoming the third bank in the area after Sabah Credit Corporation and Bank Coop Pertama.

Susan also revealed that a six-storey North Borneo University College will be among the next major components to be constructed in Parklane City, alongside upcoming shopping mall and Petronas service station, further enhancing the township’s appeal.

“With the food hub, banking facilities and more developments coming up, Benoni will becoming a complete and vibrant new township,” she said, expressing confidence that the area will grow increasingly competitive as more projects are completed ahead of its full completion target in 2030.

Meanwhile, Burger King Malaysia and Singapore Chief Executive Officer Ng Lee Tieng said this Benoni Burger King Drive-Thru is the 17th outlet in Sabah and the second in Papar.

She said Papar particularly Benoni was chosen to open the Drive-in Thru due to the growing population and rapid development here as well as to offer its popular and quality flame-grilled burgers and food to the residents and travellers.

“As we grow our footprint here, we remain committed to serving residents with greater convenience while creating local job opportunities for the area. We will also prioritise local suppliers including items such as buns and vegetables as part of our commitment to support Sabah businesses,” Ng said.
