SANDAKAN: Nine wooden stalls in a single row at Kampung Pening Lalat, Karamunting were destroyed in a fire on Saturday morning.
Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station chief PKPgB Jimmy Lagung said his team rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 11.43am.
He said the fire involved nine wooden stalls measuring 80 by 200 feet, which were about 80 per cent destroyed, while three cars and a motorcycle parked nearby were also damaged.
He added that the blaze was brought under control at 12.05pm by 16 firefighters using one 300-foot hose line and two water jets from fire engines and a nearby hydrant, with operations fully completed at 2.58pm.
The cause of the fire and total losses are still under investigation.
