Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco) Group has raised its blood donation target to 500 pints after surpassing its initial goal of 300 pints through its 2026 Blood Donation Campaign Roadshow across Sabah.
Sedco Group General Manager Datuk James Wong Kein Peng said the campaign had collected 331 pints from Lahad Datu, Tongod, Keningau and Tawau before its final stop in Kota Kinabalu, where another 150 pints were donated, bringing the overall total to 481 pints.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the roadshow on Friday, James said the achievement reflected the strong support of the public and strategic partners, adding that Sedco remained one of the few government agencies and government-linked companies (GLCs) to organise a statewide blood donation campaign.
He said the programme, introduced in 2017, had become one of Sedco's flagship corporate social responsibility initiatives, helping hospitals maintain adequate blood supplies while strengthening partnerships with healthcare institutions and promoting blood donation as a humanitarian responsibility.
James urged the public to make blood donation a lasting culture, saying every donation could save lives, while donors at the Kota Kinabalu event received household essentials and stood a chance to win lucky draw prizes.
