Strengthen Sabah - Kuala Lumpur cooperation to address education issues
James said issues such as abandoned school projects require close cooperation between the Federal Government, State Government and local authorities to ensure that the root causes are identified and resolved promptly.
Kota Kinabalu: The State Government and the Federal Government are urged to further strengthen cooperation in the State’s education sector to better coordinate the implementation of policies and education development.

State Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk James Ratib said a close working relationship is important to ensure smooth information sharing, enabling various education-related issues to be addressed more quickly and comprehensively.

He said this does not mean that the existing cooperation is inadequate, but rather aims to strengthen communication channels and the flow of information on developments in the education sector, including delayed or abandoned school projects.

“We want collaboration between the State and Federal Government to be further enhanced so that information can be shared more effectively.

“With that, the State Government can better understand the issues and help find solutions together with the relevant parties,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.

James said issues such as abandoned school projects require close cooperation between the Federal Government, State Government and local authorities to ensure that the root causes are identified and resolved promptly.

He said the State Government plays an important role in facilitating the implementation of education development projects, as several administrative and regulatory aspects fall under state jurisdiction.

As such, he suggested that any procedures or regulations that could slow down communication between State and Federal officials be reviewed to improve the efficiency of information delivery.

“When communication is smoother, any issues that arise can be identified earlier and solutions can be implemented more effectively for the benefit of the education sector in Sabah,” he said.
