Kota Kinabalu: Malaysia’s petroleum supply remains secure despite global uncertainty arising from the conflict in West Asia, with fuel supplies for June and July already secured, said Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

He said the government, through a special committee and close cooperation with Petronas and industry stakeholders, continues to closely monitor the situation to ensure uninterrupted and sufficient fuel supplies nationwide.

Armizan said strategic collaboration between government agencies, petroleum industry players, oil companies and petrol station operators has enabled the country to maintain adequate petrol and diesel supplies while preventing leakages in distribution.

He said the government remains committed to targeted subsidy programmes, including Budi Madani, SKDS and fishermen’s fuel subsidies, despite rising global oil prices and subsidy costs that now amount to nearly RM6 billion a month.

Armizan said diesel subsidies for Sabah and Sarawak reached RM1.4 billion between January and April this year, compared with RM2 billion for the whole of 2025, and added that the government would continue monitoring international developments and managing public funds prudently while safeguarding fuel supply security.
