Multiple honours for Daily Express, OCDN at KPA
The Daily Express and OCDN team at the KPA.
Kota Kinabalu: Daily Express and its sister publication, Overseas Chinese Daily News (OCDN), emerged among the top winners in the English and Chinese categories at the 2026 Kinabalu Press Awards (KPA) held here on Saturday.

A Daily Express team comprising Larry Ralon and Ricardo Unto received a merit award in the Main Journalism Award (English) category for their entry, Sabah’s Climate Challenge Series.

Daily Express also won the Business and Economic Reporting Award (English) through Sabah Global and Energy by Larry Ralon and Sherell Ann Jeffrey, while Harian Ekspres reporter Noor Zafira Mohd Shafie secured a merit award in the Bahasa Malaysia category for her cocoa commercialisation special report series.

The publication further received two merit awards in the Entertainment, Culture and Arts Reporting category for Roots Over Pixel by Sherell Ann Jeffrey and Crystal E Hermenegildus, and Disrespect to Oath Stone in Keningau by Hayati Dzulkifli, Ricardo Unto and Marutin Ansiung.

Gravin also won the Business Reporting Award (Chinese) for Borenos: 10-year Journey: Sabah’s First Local Fried Chicken Brand Conquers the Nation, while Siong secured the Sports Journalism Award (Chinese) for Hiking in Borneo has become the Latest Fitness Craze and Gravin earned a merit award for From Sabah to the World: Angie Yan’s Wai Kru Journey.

Meanwhile, the Most Promising Journalist Award went to Fadhli Dzil Ikram Ishak of RTM Sabah, while the Outstanding Mobile Journalism (Mojo) Award was presented to Info X journalist Junaidi Ladjana, the first media practitioner in Sabah to receive the accolade.
