Kota Kinabalu: The 31st Semporna Regatta Lepa will be held on June 27, with organisers expecting between 30,000 and 40,000 visitors to attend the annual celebration.
State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin said the state-level event aims to promote the cultural heritage of the Semporna community while strengthening Sabah’s tourism industry.
“This is an event eagerly awaited by the people of Semporna as well as tourists every year,” he told reporters after the Regatta Lepa organising committee paid a courtesy call on Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu, Wednesday.
Jafry called on the public to support the programme, which highlights the culture and traditions of the people of Semporna.
He said the courtesy call was also to invite Tun Musa to officiate the celebration.
