Kota Kinabalu: Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azhar Hamin has been appointed Acting Deputy Commissioner of the Sabah Police Contingent, taking over from Datuk Abdul Rani Alias who retired on June 2.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun witnessed the handover of duties at a ceremony held at the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters recently.

Mohd Azhar, who also serves as Head of the Sabah Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, assumes the acting role as the contingent bids farewell to one of its senior officers.
Jauteh took the occasion to pay tribute to the outgoing deputy, saying that Abdul Rani’s leadership, decisiveness and extensive experience had strengthened the management, operations and welfare of the police, leaving behind a legacy for the force.
Appreciation was also extended to Datin Rusnah Zakaria for her unwavering support, sacrifice and loyalty throughout her husband’s career with the police force.
Congratulating Mohd Azhar on his new appointment, Jauteh called on all Sabah Contingent personnel to extend their full cooperation, support and commitment in ensuring continued excellence in the force’s management and service delivery in the State.
He also reminded all officers and personnel to uphold discipline, professionalism, and integrity in carrying out their duties to preserve public trust in the force.
