Kota Kinabalu: Several individuals were called in to have their statements taken following a fight at the Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) Hongkod Koisaan grounds during the Kaamatan celebration.
Penampang District Deputy Police Chief DSP Erwansyah Abdul Basir said preliminary investigations showed the fight stemmed from a misunderstanding between several individuals.

“The fight did not involve the use of any weapons and was dispersed by members of the public who were present,” he said.
He said police were identifying all parties involved and tracing witnesses.
Viral video recordings of the incident were also being reviewed to assist in the probe.
Erwansyah reminded the public against making any speculation or spreading unverified information about the incident, saying such actions could jeopardise the investigation and disrupt public order.
He urged anyone with information on the incident to come forward and channel it to the nearest police station.
