Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Universitas Sultan Muhammad Syafiuddin Sambas (UNISSAS) have signed a collaboration agreement to advance research and preserve Borneo’s local wisdom.
The pact, sealed during an international conference in West Kalimantan, covers joint research, publications, academic exchanges and programmes on Borneo’s culture and society.

UMS Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof Ir Dr Rosalam Sarbatly said local wisdom remains a vital source of knowledge and innovation for sustainable development, stressing universities’ role in translating traditional knowledge into practical solutions.
Nine UMS academics also presented research at the conference.
